Jonathan Toews’ black AMG Mercedes Benz struck an “L” support beam at the intersection of Lake and Garvey in the loop just before 10 a.m.
The Chicago Blackhawks got more than a scare on Thursday afternoon. Captain Jonathan Toews was involved in a one-car accident in Chicago and was taken away from the scene in an ambulance.
Now before you get too worked up, the Blackhawks did say in a statement that Toews was in an accident but he was not injured.
“Jonathan Toews was in a minor one-car collision in downtown Chicago this morning while driving himself to the United Center. He was not injured."
Toes confirmed the team report himself in a text message to Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune.
When contacted via text following the accident, Toews responded by saying, "It's nothing serious at all" and added, "I'm good."
Phew!
Here's a little more on the specifics of the scene of the accident from CBS Chicago:
Toews’ black AMG Mercedes Benz struck an “L” support beam at the intersection of Lake and Garvey in the loop just before 10 a.m. 670 The Score confirmed the vehicle is registered to the Blackhawks center and witnesses said he was driving the car.
“I saw his car in the pole,” Theron Banks, an employee at Steak Express said. “I came out. People were everywhere. Toews was in the ambulance. People were videotaping and taking pictures and trying to get autographs, but police said they couldn’t get autographs.”
Really? Seeking autographs and trying to take pictures with somebody in an ambulance? I knows fans can get a little crazy from time to time, but man, that's just not one of those times. Obviously he's entitled to some privacy, is he not?
But back to the matter at hand. This has to really have the Chicago fans on edge, even if the team says there was no injury. Toews is already out of the lineup on a day-to-day basis and comes a day after the same CBS Chicago outlet reported that Toews might actually have a concussion. Talk about a bad week.
Toews was already scheduled to miss the team's game on Thursday night against the Stars with the upper-body injury.

Suicide attempt by Mr. Kruger from Seinfeld. He was George Costanza’s boss
Actor Daniel von Bargen, who played George Costanza’s boss Mr. Kruger on “Seinfeld,” is fighting for his life after surviving a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, according to a report.
“I’ve shot myself in the head . . . and I need help,” von Bargen says in a chilling 911 call after what is believed to have been a suicide attempt at his apartment in Cincinnati, TMZ reported.
Bargen, 61, tells the 911 operator, “I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn’t want to,” adding fragmented details about doctors planning to “amputate at least a few toes” due to his diabetes.
DANIEL VON BARGEN Played Costanza’s boss.
Von Bargen was hospitalized in critical condition.
In addition to his role as the lackadaisical boss on the NBC comedy, von Bargen appeared on “Malcolm in the Middle” as Commandant Edwin Spangler, and in the 2001 film “Super Troopers” as Chief Grady.
32 years ago, The Miracle on Ice!!
The "Miracle on Ice" is the name in American popular culture for a medal-round men's ice hockey game during the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, New York, on Friday, February 22. The United States team, made up of amateur and collegiate players and led by coach Herb Brooks, defeated the Soviet team, who were considered to be the best ice hockey team in the world at the time.
Team USA went on to win the gold medal by winning its last match over Finland. The Soviet Union took the silver medal by beating Sweden in its final game.
In 1999, Sports Illustrated named the "Miracle on Ice" the Top Sports Moment of the 20th Century. As part of its 100th anniversary celebrations in 2008, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) chose the "Miracle on Ice" as the century's number-one international ice hockey story.

Happy St. Valentine's Day Massacre (EP)
St. Valentine's Day Massacre (EP)
St. Valentine's Day Massacre is a single credited to MotörheadGirlschool, recorded by members of Motörhead and Bronze Records labelmates Girlschool. It reached number five in UK Singles Charts in 1981.
When Girlschool were recording in Rickmansworth with producer Vic Maile, he had the idea that Motörhead and Girlschool should record a single together. The result was this three-track EP, on which the bands duetted on a cover of Johnny Kidd & The Pirates' "Please Don't Touch". The bands also covered each other, with Motörhead performing Girlschool's "Emergency", and Girlschool playing Motörhead's "Bomber". The EP was recorded while Motörhead's drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor was recovering from a neck injury sustained playing "who can lift each other up the highest" with a large Irishman, so Denise Dufort deputised.
The EP was released in 1981 in 7" and 10" vinyl formats, with the same cover and track listing. It reached #5 in the UK Singles Charts.
On February 19, 1981 the band played "Please Don't Touch" under the name Headgirl on the BBC TV Top of the Pops show, to support the release of the EP.
A bootleg St. Valentine's Day Massacre exists, a double 12" vinyl album with white labels. It contains recordings of Motörhead and Girlschool's sets from a 1981 Rockstage TV Special from The Theatre Royal in Nottingham.
Track listing
1. "Please Don't Touch" (Johnny Kidd, Guy Robinson) - 2:49
2. "Bomber" (Fast Eddie Clarke, Lemmy Kilmister, Philthy Animal Taylor) - 3:38
3. "Emergency" (Denise Dufort, Kelly Johnson, Kim McAuliffe, Enid Williams) - 3:00

Happy 76th Birthday to the Greatest Actor Ever!!!! Mr. Burt Reynolds
Burton Milo "Burt" Reynolds, Jr. (born February 11, 1936) is an American actor. Some of his memorable roles include Bo 'Bandit' Darville in Smokey and the Bandit, Lewis Medlock in Deliverance, Bobby "Gator" McCluskey in White Lightning and sequel Gator, Paul Crewe and Coach Nate Scarborough in The Longest Yard and its 2005 remake respectively, Billy Clyde Puckett in Semi-Tough, J.J. McClure in The Cannonball Run, the voice of Charlie B. Barkin in All Dogs Go to Heaven, and Jack Horner in Boogie Nights. He is one of America's most recognizable film and television personalities with more than 90 feature film and 300 television episode credits.
Early life
Reynolds' parents were Burton Milo Reynolds, Sr. (1906 - 2002), who had Cherokee and Irish ancestry, and his wife, Fern H. (née Miller). Reynolds was born in Michigan. He states in his autobiography that his family was living in Lansing, Michigan, when his father was drafted into the United States Army. Reynolds, his mother and his sister joined his father at Fort Leonard Wood, where they lived for two years. When Reynolds's father was sent to Europe, the family returned to Lansing. In 1946, Reynolds moved to Jupiter, Florida, with his parents. His father, Burt Sr., later became Chief of Police of Riviera Beach. Riviera Beach is the next town north of West Palm Beach.
In his sophomore year at Palm Beach High School, Reynolds was named First Team All State and All Southern as a fullback, and received multiple scholarship offers. After graduating from Palm Beach High School in West Palm Beach, Florida, Reynolds attended Florida State University on a college football scholarship, and played halfback. While at Florida State, Reynolds became roommates with now notable college football broadcaster and analyst, Lee Corso. Reynolds hoped to be named to All-America teams and to have a career in professional football, however, in the first game of the season, Reynolds was injured and a car accident later that year worsened the injury. With his college football career ended, Reynolds considered becoming a police officer, but his father suggested that he finish college and become a parole officer. In order to keep up with his studies, he began taking classes at Palm Beach Junior College (PBJC) in neighboring Lake Worth. In his first term at PBJC Reynolds was in a class taught by Watson B. Duncan III. Duncan pushed Reynolds into trying out for a play he was producing, Outward Bound. He cast Reynolds in the lead, based on his impressions from listening to Reynolds read Shakespeare in class. Reynolds won the 1956 Florida State Drama Award for his performance in Outward Bound. Reynolds calls Duncan his mentor and the most influential person in his life. While at Florida State, Reynolds became a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
